RECOMMENDED PROCESSING CONDITIONS

Machine

It is recommended that an in-line reciprocating screw machine be used to injection mould ECP 210 but it is possible to process this material on plunger injection moulding machines.

Extrusion

Normal extrusion equipment should be used.

Cylinder Temperature

220 – 230 °C depending on the size and complexity of the moulding.

Moisture

It is recommended that ECP 210 be dried prior to extrusion.  Excess moisture may show as an inferior surface finish.  Typically 2/4 hours at 80°C is adequate.  Store in a warm dry place to avoid moisture.

Use Of Regrind

Runners, sprues and scrap mouldings can be reground and blended with virgin material.  Regrind additions should not exceed 10% by weight of the virgin material; otherwise some reduction in properties may be experienced.

DO NOT USE A MAGNETIC SEPARATOR IN THE MOULDING MACHINE AND HOPPER, THE GRAINS WILL SEPARATE AND STICK TO THE MAGNET!!

Product Type: Colourable Compound

The ingredients used in compound ECP 210 conform to the regulations specified below subject to restrictions and maximum addition levels where applicable.

EEC

Black Iron Oxide:

This ingredient used in ECP 210 meets the requirements of EEC Directive 95/45/EC relating to the criteria required for colours used in foodstuffs.

Polymer and additives:

The compound ECP 210 contains polymer produced from monomers detailed in the positive list of EEC Directive 90/128/EEC – “Plastics Materials and Articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs”, published in the Official Journal of the European Communities on 21st March 1990, and in subsequent amendments up to and including Directive 2000/17/EC.

The ingredients contained in ECP 210 are included in Annex III of Directive 90/128/EC and in subsequent amendments up to and including Directive 2000/17/EC.

Another aspect of EEC Directive 90/128/EEC relates to overall and specific migration. The final food contact material or article containing ECP 210 must comply with overall migration limits as specified in 90/128/EEC when tested according to 82/711/EEC with food simulants and conditions as specified in 85/572/EEC. This is the responsibility of the user of this polymer product. TBA ECP has not determined whether a film produced from ECP 210 will be in conformity with the migration limits described above.
